Usage instructions

It takes a matter of minutes to set up a gallery with sigplus but those who are looking for a powerful gallery solution will not be disappointed either: sigplus is suitable for both beginner and advanced users.

  • If you are inexperienced with Joomla, continue with one of the step-by-step guides below for Joomla 1.5 or Joomla 1.6.
  • If you consider yourself an intermediate or power user who has had some experience with Joomla, jump to the Basic usage instructions.
  • Intermediate and expert users might find details on additional topics in the Advanced usage instructions or the list of configuration settings.

Step-by-step guide for Joomla 1.5

  • Log in to the Joomla administration back-end.
  • Open the menu Extensions and choose Plugin Manager.
  • Find Content - Image gallery - sigplus in the list. Click the red marker in the column Enabled, which will turn into a green tick.
  • Open the menu Site and choose Media Manager.
  • Click stories in the panel Folders on the left-hand side. Joomla should show the contents of the folder /images/stories in the Files panel.
  • Type myfolder next to the button Create Folder and press the button. A new folder called myfolder will appear in the Files panel.
  • Click the folder icon myfolder. The folder should be empty.
  • Click Browse… in the bottom part of the page and select an image file (with extension .jpg, .png or .gif) on your local computer. Be careful not to choose a huge file of several megabytes. Click Start upload. After a short while, the image file should appear in the folder. Repeat as necessary with some other files.
  • Open the menu Content and choose Article Manager. Click the title of an existing article to open it.
  • Type the following (do not copy-and-paste from here) into the editor: {gallery}myfolder{/gallery}.
  • Click Save. When the article is shown in the front-end, an image gallery will be displayed in place of {gallery}myfolder{/gallery}.
